Today, we're excited to announce the general availability of Box Platform, a new offering that we first launched in closed beta at Box Dev and are now opening to our entire developer ecosystem. Box Platform provides a new authentication and user model for powering standalone content services in your applications.
For the first time, you own the users, you own the content, and now you own the user experience. Your app receives an independent, developer-owned instance of Box, so you can be enterprise-ready day one, meeting industry requirements such as FINRA and HIPAA.
You can now log into your developer console and begin creating apps on Box Platform with our new App Auth and App User features. To get started, check out our documentation and tutorials.
Box Platform offers key capabilities for building custom applications:
- Seamless Authentication: Establish a trusted connection to Box with a new server-to-server authentication service, App Auth, that allows your app to authenticate on behalf of your users.
- A New User Model: Provision and manage App Users, a new type of user designed specifically for your app.
- Powerful Security Controls: A new security model and Admin Console features that provide granular control for managing custom applications and their App Users.
- Rich Content Services: All of the content management, content experience, and content security features available in our Content API.
- Tools for Developers: Updated SDKs for Java, .NET, iOS, Python and Ruby, and new documentation to make it simple for anyone to build on Box Platform.
